Asymmetric desymmetrization of meso-diols by C 2-symmetric chiral 4-pyrrolidinopyridines
In this work we developed C(2)-symmetric chiral nucleophilic catalysts which possess a pyrrolidinopyridine framework as a catalytic site. Some of these organocatalysts effectively promoted asymmetric desymmetrization of meso-diols via enantioselective acylation.

The organocatalytic ring-opening of N-tosyl protected aziridines by beta-ketoesters under chiral PTC-conditions, leading to the formation of optically active aminoethyl functionalised compounds with up to 99% ee, has been developed.

[reaction: see text] A practical organocatalytic process for the synthesis of optically active, highly substituted alpha-hydroxy-ketones was achieved through asymmetric desymmetrization (ADS) of prochiral ketones. The ADS and O-N bond reduction reaction of prochiral ketone with nitrosobenzene in the presence of a catalytic amount of chiral amine or amino acid produced the tandem ADS/O-N bond re...
متن کاملComplete diastereodivergence in asymmetric 1,6-addition reactions enabled by minimal modification of a chiral catalyst
Catalytic systems that allow selective generation of any diastereomer of a reaction product bearing multiple stereocentres through minimal modification of a single catalyst scaffold remain elusive, particularly for carbon-carbon bond formations requiring simultaneous control of multiple selectivity factors. Here, we report a catalyst-directed pinpoint inversion of diastereochemical preference i...
متن کاملRhodium-catalyzed asymmetric ring opening reactions of oxabicyclic alkenes: catalyst and substrate studies leading to a mechanistic working model.
Catalyst and substrate studies have been performed on the rhodium-catalyzed asymmetric ring opening reaction. A working model is advanced that involves oxidative insertion with retention to form an organorhodium intermediate that then undergoes nucleophilic attack with inversion. Kinetic and competition experiments have uncovered evidence for a proton transfer step in the catalytic cycle that m...
